Tanja Rađenović
Freedom is something people are talking about in the loudest possible way these days. Faced with something called the "new reality", we are pushed by force into mass anxiety and often wrong self-questionings which can get us sideways. Unfortunately, the least competent ones are somehow always the loudest ones, and those who can relly see and hear stay wisely on the side, adhering to the right postulates. Because only those who have always been wise and brave enough to live it, are entitled to talk about true freedom. Those who know how to feel reality without any calculations, how to separate the lie from the truth, and who give themselves without reservation only to those who have a special reservation within them. There is a popular English idiom, "Real McCoy", which could be translated as "real thing" or "guy on the spot". But it's time to adopt the popular idiom and give it a feminine form, because the faboulous lady I had an honour to talk, Tanja Radjenovic, is just that - Real McCoy. A woman with true integrity, uncompromising in fast thinking and size of her lion heart. A woman who realized long ago that true freedom lies in the ability to express yourself directly and without mincing one’s words. But dancing through truth, honesty, freedom and self-satisfaction in the best possible way, and with the world we create around ourselves often requires a lot of capacity and constant work, which is the definition of a person for deep respect, and that’s exactly what Tanja Radjenovic is.
“The stronger the impression you leave, the more attention you attract and the more attacks you attract. On the other hand, you enjoy when you see them bounce off the invisible shield of a self-conscious woman.”
1. How good and how demanding is it to be Tanja Radjenovic And why?
I have no other skin to live in, and I have never tried to be someone else. I often did felt “angry and tight” in that skin of mine, but now I realize that these are just initiations for the next level. I would be lying if I said I was not happy with Tanja. Even observing it from the side, what I see is good and beautiful. Now, my Gemini sign is probably holding me back from running at full capacity. For close, noble, honest, quality and charming people in need, Tanja is a balm to their wound. For others, it is probably something very uncomfortable to experience. I have this kind of defense mechanism to say clearly and loudly on the first ball what I think and support it with facts. This is one of the abilities that I obviously have always had, but I developed it to the last few years. Since then, I have been "just at the right place" with myself.
2. You leave the impression of an extremely strong and self-conscious woman who bravely goes where she wants. What is the price of that?
I think I explained a lot in the previous answer. But according to me, a brave woman does not go where she wants! She is going where she has to go, she is going where she assessed that it is of good quality and necessary. The stronger the impression you leave, the more attention you attract and the more attacks you attract. On the other hand, you enjoy when you see them bounce off the invisible shield of a self-conscious woman. I can often say that people who do not notice when they enter the room twice do not deserve my attention. How you radiate is how you attract. Superficial in everything, lukewarm, limp, big and dirty in speech, I don't like walking and attitude in my vicinity. And I show it. It seems very clear and open because I am really surrounded only by people with whom I am on a similar wavelength, and I do not see the others either the first or the second, let alone the third time when they try to "enter"!
3. What do you think freedom is, and is it true that it has no price nowadays when everything is on sale?
True freedom is freedom of thought and expression. There is no price for that, because it cannot be paid with money, but the right to it must be acquired through behavior, experience, self-knowledge, and as I said somewhere earlier, the freedom to say directly what you think is the greatest wealth a person can gain for himself.
4. Did you choose your job or did he choose you?
I always say how I think this job chose me; the path from the blonde girl from TV Politika to Tanja Radjenovic who is known in public today, was for me the most natural and unforced possible path. Of course, there were a lot of challenges, like September 11, 2001 or the May floods, but information news sector is something I found myself in, I've always been "in my element" on the screen, and I consider myself incredibly happy that Tanja from the screen and I got together so well in a very steady and special way.
5. The beauty of simplicity or the beauty of complexity and why?
I think that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but decency, culture, effort, work, thoroughness and self-awareness are universal. I like to believe that those values hold true beauty, the beauty of what we do, how we look, what we leave behind. Therefore, it is difficult to achieve beauty, which is simple by itself.
6. How hard is it to separate your personal truth from the truth of objectivity or a common ground when you are in the world of journalism?
As long as there are facts you are dealing with in business, the truth is very clear. The interpretation of facts, events and what is said or written is up to the one who receives the information and I have never had a problem with the truth. I am happy to be one of those journalists and presenters who are trusted.
7. What does being able to enjoy truly mean to you?
For me, true enjoyment is being “on your own”. Whether it is at work and on the screen, which is certainly a very stressful job by its very nature that carries a huge responsibility, or my personal idyll, the sea, the Adriatic Sea coast, my family, a speedboat and the course of the open sea; the bottom line remains that I think you can only truly enjoy exactly where you really belong. I truly enjoy being a completely authentic self, surrounded by my people on my personal field, regardless of everything we face outside of that frame.
8. Do you enjoy fashion and nurturing and how does it make you feel?
Yes, I do enjoy it! Through the fashion which I experience on a very personal level, I can play, I can progress, discover, enjoy, combine, practice my style and develop a sense of beauty. I love hanging out with artists from the world of fashion, and some of my best friends are just highly esteemed, recognized and extremely educated doyens of Serbian fashion scene. Through spending time with them, I completely freed myself and discovered which style and at what moment evokes the right me. Clothes are our second skin, and for those who knows how to read it, it speaks a lot about ourselves. Through my fashion research, I also learned a lot, and thus mastered reading other people's clothing combinations. It is often enough for me to unmistakably understand what kind of person someone is just by that someone's appearance, and I do not refer on the branding clothes or the value of the wardrobe that someone wears.
